Toyota Kluger 2008 Kluger previous Model/ 2009

The Toyota Kluger as its known in Japan and Australia has undergone for a slight change in  2008/2009.

The Kluger  was the first of its type in its price range  and will continue to fill that void in the market with of course the reliability associated with the Toyota Badge.

Toyota at this point looks likely to  cease the RHD manufacture in Japan some time in 2010 ( see article below 2012 Kluger for Australia)

Australians will be watching fuel figures  and safety.

  • Seven airbags
  • Vehicle Stability Control with steering assist
  • Traction Control
  • Anti-skid Braking System
  • Electronic Brake  Distribution
  • Brake Assist
  • Reverse camera.

2008/09 Kluger offers   traction control, a multitude of airbags, ABS brakes and stability control.

If our sources are correct expect a little more space (roughly 3inches) both inside and wheel base.

    Engine   3456 cc DOHC 24 Valve fuel injected V6 bore x stroke 94 x 83 mm compression 10.8:1

And hurrah !!now available in 2WD and 4x4 models.

And Mum will love the power lift gate (may not be available all models) keyless ignition and rear DVD system.

Toyota another great product,  Not exciting but practical .

As these model are evolving curiosity makes me wonder where the Rav 4 will sit.

And will the Hybrid Kluger model become available in Australia after 2008 ? refer alternativefuel4x4.com

General consensus seems the Australian buying public have seen Toyota wave the ugly stick to this model and the rumor mill is alive with a similar fate to the new cruiser. That's something we will have to wait to see.

2009 Toyota Kluger Update

Australia will see little change in the 2009 Toyota Kluger, but for the USA  the Kluger or Highlander will be replaced by the 2009 Toyota Venza.

The Hybrid will not be seen in Australia just yet.

2010 Toyota Kluger update.   2012 Kluger for Australian Manufacture.

Japan will cease the manufacture of the Kluger during 2010 as the next generation  4x4 develops.

The Right hand drive model will certainly cease its production in Osaka according to Toyota sources. In Australia Toyota

management have reported recently that they are looking seriously at a new line for manufacture in Australia.

The Kluger based on the same platform as the Camry will be the ideal choice and date the year 2012 is rumored to be the year that it may take effect.

Mr Yasuda head of Toyota Australia still is yet to get past the maybe stages of commitment  but for Toyota Australia and its workers 2012 maybe will offer more production and job security  with the bonus being a quality 4x4 vehicle being manufactured locally.

What ever happens the 2008/2009  Kluger will get extra sales in the Australian market.

Interesting to note a article in the Queensland Courier Mail ( 5/1/08 )claimed the Toyota Kluger 2008 to be heavy on fuel claiming the Kluger returned 13-14 lts /100km  (That's almost a V8 petrol Toyota Landcruiser 200 series  14.5 l/per 100km )  on their tests.
