Back to the late 80s
when life was good Suzuki developed a fun light weight semi rural
vehicle called the sierra.
Initially it was built on the subcontinent and was a basic 1 litre 4
spd manual 4x4 work farm whatever truck. Suspension was hard the price
low and the quality average.
Even though this vehicle evolved from the earlier Suzuki vehicles it
began a new awareness of the light rigid 4x4 vehicle that Suzuki had
created. The main point of this vehicle is reliability. Suzuki can hang
their hat on that now and the sierra although basic go anywhere was
reliable.
During the fuel spikes in 2008 this vehicle now called the Jimney had
defied market trends and increased sales in Australia in fact at one
stage sales had risen 34% within 12 months.

Today's standards and market expectations have changed since the 80s and 90s
models now the Jimney is manual or Automatic, its priced in a competitive
placement$20,000 AUD +
It offers comfort features like Air cond, power steer, Safety has been
severely enhanced .
Engine also has been refined from the old 1 litre and 1.3 to the new 62 kw
multi point injection 1.3 4 cyl delivering for its size nice torque at 128
Nm.Even towing at the standard 350 KG un braked is reasonable. Brake it
and its 1300 kg now that's not bad.
This is not a sales pitch but in the 20+years I have been involved in 4x4
vehicle this unit has always shown its qualities. Maybe not my cup of tea
but as I have said many time will go up the side of tree if you want it too. For
the younger buyers it is easy to see the attraction for this vehicle and the
lifestyle it represents. Again well done Suzuki.
