Land Rover LRX concept turbo diesel/electric  video

Here is a interesting concept The Land Rover LRX is  based on the Freelander shows that manufacturers can try and answer any form of negative criticism. As we are all aware  4x4 owners have to be subjected to certain questions posed by a minority section of society, for the anti 4x4 buffoons its usually down to the adverse effect ones 4x4 has on the environment. Land Rover here hope to show if not develop in the next three years a 2.0 Turbo diesel / Electric hybrid vehicle.

The LRX Land Rover obviously has the engine but much thought has gone into development and manufacture of components for this and hopeful future planned models .Land Rover LRX

250MM has been removed from the length of the LRX from the rear to make it more user friendly and lighter, visually Land Rover have been quick to tapper the lines so the appearance of the LRX seem to be mid sized. A steep angle windscreen and 20" wheels add also to the overall appearance of this vehicle.

Dimensions Land Rover LRX

  • Length 4351 mm
  • width 1535 mm
  • wheelbase 2660 mm

On the inside of the LRX its light leather and aluminium comfy modern seating, plenty of futuristic controls and a LCD screen with 3D graphics plus a Apple iPhone dock. To start this baby just press the big red button on the screen rather than the key. The iPhone also multi tasks for the sat nav, air cond and to alter the ambient colour to suit your mood. In the rear is a place to fold and stack your pushbike and a bottle chiller. Yes you say but what about off road, well Erad system is there  and there is terrain response for condition change . I cannot see you rounding up the sheep with this but it will hold some technology that will no doubt be introduced in a similar form in vehicles of the near future.

CO2 emissions 120g/km  and plenty of economy plus a hood lining made from recycled plastic bottles and wool carpet now that's something that might catch on, Real wool.

Australia will have to wait as for the rest of the world but it will be highly likely that the Land Rover LRX will get to us in the near future.
