Audi Q5 SUV Wagon videoNow this is a interesting one that is bigger than just a new car release. Outside of China Audi would have been the first car manufacturer seeing the potential the ever increasing population and wealth in china is creating and the opportunities it poses for its brand. In the first quarter of 2008 Audi had a 25% increase in sales in China selling 30,000 units in three months, sales are expected to rise to about 110,000 very quickly. In any eyes this is a market to centre your activities. The Q5 will still be manufactured in Europe. This however will alter for the domestic Chinese market as a plant is being built in Changechun it is unsure though if the Audi Q5 will be built there. Audi is a silent achiever and sales in Australia
and elsewhere have shown promise. Audi dealers have all shown a great deal of
commitment to this brand on the long term. At the Beijing motor show earlier in 2008 2 models where released of the Q5 a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder TDI and a 3.0 litre TDI ( 3.2 V6 petrol 188kw/ 330 Nm Later) 3.0 TDI 176 Kw / 500 Nm 2.0 TDI 125 Kw/ 350 Nm The 2 litre tdi is no orphan as it has been in the Audi A4 soon a hybrid engine will be forth coming for Audi , it enjoys a 6 speed automatic / 6 speed manual gearbox and for the future customers of the 3.2 expect a 7 sp box called S-tronics. At this point Audi expect the main sales to come from the two TDI models. 3.0 0-100km 6.5 second top speed 225 kms/ph 7.7 ltrs/100 kms fuel consumption 2.0 0-100km 9.5 seconds top speed 204 km/ph 6.7 ltrs/100 kms economy The Audi Q5 drive system will be 40/60 split Quattro drive, Expect a state of art five link front aluminium suspension and trapezoidal link rear also in aluminium .Most readers will be fully aware of the level of interior features and comfort so I will not need to elaborate, It is hoped this vehicle will have a good go at the market currently filled with Freelander , Lexus RX350 and Volvo XC60.It should not be too difficult in the Australian market. Nice to see a optional off road pack with 19 inch wheels will be available, this will become a must for the private school sector. Future options may include dynamic steering, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof and (we all need this) heated and ventilated cup holders. Nice Colin Jones
